Rajisha Vijayan and Sreenivasan’s Keedam, despite its underwhelming promotions, seem to be a movie to look out for. The film’s teaser, which was released recently, featured a relatable and funny interaction between its lead characters.
The promo video has Rajisha’s character Radhika questioning where her dad heads out after giving the excuse of watching a Carnatic concert. Sreenivasan, who plays Balan, quips whether she is monitoring him too, and then goes to talk about how he enjoys the attention he has been getting despite being a divorcee and having a daughter “at marriageable age”.
The short video also reveals a lot about the equation between the daughter and father duo, and also about its characters. Rajisha plays a cybersecurity expert in the movie, directed by Rahul Riji Nair, who she had collaborated with in Kho Kho last year. The actress’ character run a start-up in the film, which also has Vijay Babu playing a police officer.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the film’s director Rahul said that Keedam is a thriller. “The film deals with pertinent subjects such as stalking and the limitations of law,” said the award-winning filmmaker, who had previously helmed Dakini, Ottamuri Velicham and Kalla Nottam.
Keedam, which is set to hit theatres on May 20, also has Manikandan Achari and Renjit Shekhar Nair in pivotal roles. The movie was shot entirely in Kochi earlier this year.
The movie is releasing in theatres along with three other Malayalam films. Santosh Sivan’s Jack N’ Jill, which has Manju Warrier and Soubin Shahir, Siju Wilson’s entertainer Varayan and Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Udal are the other three releases. Meanwhile, on May 20, Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s 12thMan will also drop on Disney+ Hotstar. The film, which also has Unni Mukundan, Saiju Kurup, Leona Lishoy and Sshivada, is a whodunit mystery.
