Lyca Productions on Tuesday released a new teaser for the upcoming movie Lal Salaam to mark the 73rd birthday of Superstar Rajinikanth. The teaser, just over a minute long, provides fresh glimpses of Rajinikanth's character, Moideen Bhai. The footage paints Moideen Bhai as a man of deep religious conviction who doesn't shy away from delivering a punch when needed.

The teaser begins with Moideen Bhai leaving his house in haste and rushing to a factory, where workers seem to be in some distress situation. And he solves the problem in the good old way by thrashing the anti-social elements that are threatening the innocent workers. Moideen Bhai's heroic exploits are elevated by Oscar-winner AR Rahman's background score, creating a scene filled with revelation.

Moideen Bhai also walks into a scene of a communal riot, where people and shops are set on fire. And then the teaser ends with him offering namaz. "Mass machine and most magnetic magnificence of a man! Happy birthday APPA ! Here’s my humble tribute on this day from #lycaproductions @arrahman sir and us a team of underdogs," tweeted Aishwarya Rajinikanth, while revealing the teaser.

Aishwarya, the daughter of Rajinikanth, has written and directed Lal Salaam. Billed as a sports drama, the film seems to examine the ill effects of hate politics and the irreparable damage caused by communal riots to the secular fabric of the country.

Rajinikanth has played an extended cameo in the film, which is headlined by Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant.

Rajinikanth wrapped up shooting his portions earlier this year, concluding in July. All his scenes were captured against the bustling backdrop of Mumbai, portraying a politically charged plot. The buzz is that this film has taken inspiration from director Abhishek Kapoor's 2013 hit, Kai Po Che.

Lal Salaam is due in cinemas during the Pongal festival in 2024.

Earlier today, Lyca Productions also unveiled the official title of Thalaivar 170, naming it after one of Rajinikanth's iconic characters, Vettaiyan.
