The impact Shankar's Enthiran created after its release in 2010 needs no introduction. The movie went on to become the biggest earner from south India and was poised to become the highest Indian grosser. Starring Rajinikanth in dual roles and Aishwarya Rai among others, it took several years for some stars in Tamil to surpass the film's box office feat.
The movie had set a benchmark in terms of impressive making, inspiring VFX and grand production design. Its sequel, 2.0 which was released in 2018, too, set the cash registers ringing.
Sun Pictures, which has bankrolled the mammoth project, has now come up with an exciting announcement, leaving fans of Rajini and other cinephiles thrilled. They have surprised them by informing that a digitally remastered version of the movie will start streaming on Sun NXT from June 9.
The enhanced 4K version will be available on Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos formats. Fans took to Twitter to express happiness and said that they can't wait to watch the iconic blockbuster in the updated version. However, many fans requested makers to consider a re-release for the film.
Rajinikanth's Baba, which wasn't a successful movie during its release in 2002, had a re-release a few months ago. With re-release becoming the new fad in Tollywood, several Telugu fans of the Superstar, too, have come up with the demand of re-releasing Enthiran in theatres in both Tamil and Telugu.
The Tollywood version of the movie was a huge hit and ended up as the second biggest earner at the box office back then.
