Superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday paid a visit to the under-construction Ram temple in Ayodhya on Sunday. He was accompanied by his wife Latha, who also prayed at the makeshift temple, where ‘Ram Lalla’ idol has been placed.

After visiting the temple, Rajinikanth said, he was "very lucky" and "it was his long-nurtured dream." He also called the ongoing construction work of the temple "historic." He added, “After it opens, see how else it will be transformed.”

Just before the release of Jailer, Rajinikanth took a trip to the Himalayas. He expressed excitement about being able to take the trip after a long time. He was not able to visit the Himalayas, which had become an annual ritual of sorts for him, for the last four years owing to certain health issues and the Covid pandemic.

Usually, his visits to the Himalayas were low-key. However, during this trip, Rajinikanth made many headlines as he visited several top political leaders in Uttar Pradesh. However, his meeting with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made waves across the nation. Rajinikanth greeted Yogi Adityanath by bowing down and touching his feet . Many were shocked by the visuals drawing polarising reactions to Rajinikanth's gesture.

The following day, Rajinikanth also met Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav . The Jailer star revealed Akhilesh has been a long-time friend and it was just a "courtesy call."

After a very eventful trip to the northern states, Rajinikanth will return to Chennai on Monday. He's basking in the huge box-office success of his latest movie Jailer, which is setting the box office on fire. Just 11 days after its release, Jailer has sold over Rs 500 crore worth of tickets worldwide.

Rajinikanth will next join the sets of director TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame.
