Rajinikanth is currently on a signing spree and has a massive line-up of upcoming projects in his kitty. The veteran superstar is teaming up with some of the finest talents of Tamil film industry for his upcoming outings. Thalaivar, who recently kickstarted the shooting of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, is planning to announce his other upcoming projects soon. Reportedly, Rajinikanth is joining hands with talented filmmaker Mari Selvaraj for his 174th film, which is tentatively titled Thalaivar 174.
Rajinikanth teams up with Mari Selvaraj for Thalaivar 174?
If the recent updates are to be believed, Rajinikanth is planning to join hands with director Mari Selvaraj, best known for his acclaimed films Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan, and Maamannan, for his 174th film. The highly anticipated project, which is tentatively titled Thalaivar 174, is expected to start rolling after the superstar wraps up Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, and his 172nd project Jailer 2, which is a sequel to the blockbuster action thriller Jailer, directed by Nelson. The superstar's 173rd film, however, is not finalised yet.
The recent updates suggest that Rajinikanth and Mari Selvaraj’s untitled project will be bankrolled by Lalit Kumar, under the popular banner 7 Screen Studio. Santhosh Narayanan, the Kalki 2898 AD music director, is reportedly in talks to compose the songs and original score for the much-awaited project. According to the grapevine, the team is planning to officially announce the highly anticipated project once things are finalised. The female lead, rest of the star cast, and technical crew, however, will be decided only after the project is officially launched.
Rajinikanth’s work front
For the uninitiated, Rajinikanth will be next seen in Vettaiyan, his 170th project which is directed by TJ Gnanavel. The movie, which is touted to be a social-action drama, is expected to hit the big screens by the final quarter of 2024. The legendary actor is teaming up with hitmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for his 171st film, which has been titled Coolie. Interestingly, Rajinikanth is set to play a unique character with negative shades in the film, which is touted to be a fantasy action film. After wrapping up Coolie, the superstar is expected to kickstart the shooting of Nelson’s Jailer 2.
