Raj B Shetty on enjoying Toby promotions: Have designed most strategies myself

Looks like Raj B Shetty has another credible addition to his vibrant résumé. Having already made a name for himself as a multifaceted artist who has made a mark as an actor, writer and also director, Raj is now also proactively involved in the marketing/promotions of his next film Toby.

Speaking to Film Companion recently, Raj B Shetty shared that contrary to the public idea, he is actually enjoying the process of promoting his film. "I have designed a lot of the marketing strategies for our film. Of course, I have a great team behind me which is working efficiently," said Raj in the same interview, adding that it is necessary that the person who has conceived the film must also be a prominent part of selling it to the public. He would also talk about the significance of promoting the core essence of a film which, he adds, is possible only when the author of the story/idea gets involved.

Raj B Shetty: Toby is a family man; someone you will end up rooting for 

"The rage, the chaos that the protagonist in Toby embodies, that's exactly what I have promoted since the beginning. The film is all about a sheep evolving to become a beast and I have communicated that from the time before even the first poster was released. I do enjoy marketing but it gets tiring at times, but when you do it with people you like, it becomes enjoyable," added Raj Shetty.

In the same interview, Raj also discusses how he has gradually come to learn the art of promoting film. Citing his own film Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana as an example, he says that being relatively new to the profession, he allowed others to navigate the pre-release promotional process but with Toby, he is far more comfortable taking the lead. "We are not selling the film based on false promises or lies. Also, you don't feel any discomfort when you are promoting a project that you genuinely believe in," he shares.

Toby, written by Raj B Shetty who also stars in the lead role, is directed by Basil Al Chalakkal, his former associate. Chaithra J Achar, Samyukta Hornad, Gopal Deshpande and others, too, are part of the main cast with Midhun Mukundan and Praveen Shriyan handling music and cinematography, respectively.
