Raid 2: Riteish Deshmukh's powerful politician avatar raises the stakes in Ajay Devgn-starrer

The first look image for the highly awaited sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Raid was a thrilling surprise for fans, who are now preparing for the film's theatrical premiere on May 1, 2025. Filmmakers have unveiled Riteish Deshmukh in a ferocious new persona, a radical change from his earlier parts. The actor duels with Ajay Devgn's Amay Patnaik, who plays an IRS officer, in Raid 2 as a prominent politician who poses as a formidable enemy.

Riteish Deshmukh's glimpse as a political rebellion

The poster, which was revealed today, depicts Riteish Deshmukh amidst a mob of protesters, his face contorted into an angry scowl. He sets the tone for what is sure to be an intense political battle, wearing a brown Nehru jacket over a light grey kurta and radiating power and threat. The magnitude of the war and rebellion in the sequel is hinted at by the background, which is crowded with people waving flags and raising their fists.

Raid 2 expands the storyline beyond a real-life income tax raid to centre on political corruption and power battles, whereas the original film narrowly focused on that topic. Riteish Deshmukh's casting as the antagonist has intensified the situation significantly. His role is anticipated to add a fresh dimension of intricacy and tension, heightening the tension between power and justice.

Powerhouse team

The second installment in the Raid film series is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. Under his direction, the sequel is expected to live up to his reputation for directing gripping thrillers. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Abhishek Pathak, and Kumar Mangat Pathak are the film's producers. Panorama Studios, Gulshan Kumar, and T-Series are the proud presenters. 

In addition to Vaani Kapoor's significant role, the film also features Ajay Devgn, who plays the role of the moral IRS officer Amay Patnaik. Riteish Deshmukh's character, purportedly a powerful and corrupt politician, heightens the tension in the film.
