Prabhas, a star more popular for his action entertainers, decided to do a full-on romance saga with his latest release, Radhe Shyam, written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. Praseedha, Vamsi, Pramod and Bhushan Kumar have jointly produced the film under UV Creations, T Series and Gopi Krishna Movies. Pooja Hegde played the female lead in the film that also featured Bhagyashree, Priyadarshi, Riddhi Kumar, Murli Sharma, Krishnam Raju and Sachin Khedekar in crucial roles. While the film opened to mixed reviews all over, it has still managed to hold fort at the box office in its first weekend.
An official statement from UV Creations confirms that the film has garnered Rs 151 crore cross the globe in the first three days in all languages. In terms of breakup, while the romance opened on a grand note at Rs 80 crore on its first day, the collections dipped considerably over the next couple of days (around Rs 70 crore). Yet, the fact that the film has continued to draw audiences despite the lacklustre response shows the box office pull of its lead stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde. Given that the film was made on a budget of over Rs 300 crore, there's still a mountain left to climb for the movie to break even or even register profits.
Radhe Shyam revolves around the love story between Vikramaditya, a world famous palmist and Prerana, a doctor. While Vikramaditya doesn't believe in committed relationships, Prerana is the exact opposite. What happens when destiny has other ideas and plays spoilsport? The romance has cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and is edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. Justin Prabhakaran has composed the songs while S Thaman has come up with the background score. Most of the viewers have hailed the efforts of the technicians behind the project and called it visually stunning. The film's satellite rights are with the ZEE group whereas Amazon Prime Video is the streaming partner in all five languages.
