RadhaKrishn fame Mallika Singh is a Kashmiri in her Kannada film debut, Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe

Mallika Singh, best known for her long stint on the television series RadhaKrishn, as well as her role in Gully Boy, is making her Kannada film debut with Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe, the first schedule of which is currently on in Mysuru. The film is being directed by Suni, who had debuted a decade ago with a film called Simplaag Ondu Love Story, with Rakshit Shetty and Swetha Srivastav in the lead.

Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe was, incidentally, the title Suni had envisioned for his debut, but then changed it eventually. The filmmaker wanted to still use it and has now called his film, which has Vinay Rajkumar in the lead along with Mallika, as Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe. The film has two heroines, Mallika and newbie Swathishta, based on the script requirement of a north Indian character and a local girl. Mallika plays a Kashmiri and was selected for the film, as the producer, Ramesh, was a big fan of her serial RadhaKrishn. Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe has a filmi connect, in the sense that Vinay plays an aspiring music composer in it. As part of his journey as a musician, he gets to work with Sadhu Kokila, an established composer in the industry.

Meanwhile, it is being speculated that this film is based on a script that Suni had prepared for Vinay’s late uncle, Puneeth Rajkumar, which the Power Star had liked and agreed to do. The filmmaker has apparently reworked it slightly to now have Vinay in the lead. Suni’s Avatara Purusha 2 is still in post-production, as his next, Gatha Vaibhava. The filmmaker had announced a third collaboration with Ganesh, after Chamak and Sakath, but that is also on hold currently. Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe will be Vinay’s second film in which he plays someone from Kannada cinema. His Andondittu Kaala has him playing an aspiring filmmaker.
