Rachita Ram on being a part of Rajinikanth’s Coolie: “I have been approached, but…”

It’s been a few months since rumours sprang up about Kannada actress Rachita Ram’s impending Tamil film debut. The actress was said to be Kollywood bound with Superstar Rajinikanth’s next, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which is currently in production. This news, though, had not been confirmed by anyone from the team, and with Rachita also remaining quiet, there’d been no update.

During the promotions of her next, Sanju Weds Geetha 2, though, Rachita, who rarely makes public appearances, was asked to confirm the development. “It is true that I have been approached by the team. But I am not officially on board the project yet. If I do get that call confirming my role, I will announce the same. Until then, it is not right that I claim I am a part of the movie,” said the actress.

According to reports, Rachita has been offered a negative role in the film. The film already has an eclectic cast on board, including Real Star Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, among many others.

Meanwhile, Rachita, who was last seen in Matinee, has a bunch of interesting projects lined up in Kannada. She has Love Me or Hate Me and Shabari Searching for Ravana that are ready for release, while she is also a part of Duniya Vijay’s Rachayya, directed by Jadesha K Hampi, Ayogya 2 opposite Sathish Ninasam and directed by Mahesh Kumar, as well as Cult with Zaid Khan, directed by Anil Kumar.

Is Sanju Weds Geetha 2 a sequel? Director Nagashekar clarifies 

Sanju Weds Geetha 2 will be in theatres on January 10. Contrary to rumours, the film is not a sequel to the 2011 original, so there is no question of Rachita having replaced Ramya. The Nagashekar directorial is however inspired by true events and pairs her with Srinagara Kitty, who was in the original film as well.
