Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming thriller web series Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Aashenni will release on the OTT this Friday, August 13 on Hoichoi.
An exclusive of the Bengali OTT platform, REKKA features an interesting ensemble cast of Rahul Bose, Anirban Bhattacharya, and the well-known Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon and Anjan Dutt. The much-awaited psychological thriller is an adaptation of Mohammad Nazim Uddin’s best-selling novel of the same name. The trailer of the series was dropped on Hoichoi’s YouTube platform on July 25.

The trailer offers a chilling glimpse into what is set to unleash upon OTT content lovers this Friday. Rahul Bose essays the role of an NRI Bengali journalist Nirupam Chanda who arrives at the mysterious town to research the restaurant titled ‘Rabindranath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni’ and the even more enigmatic owner lady, Mushkan Zuberi, played by Haque. Anirban Bhattacharya essays the role of a Muslim old man Akhtar Ali, and going by the trailer, his part seems to be a key element in the plot. Lies and evasiveness heighten the tense atmosphere and unease with a fear of the unknown that coats the trailer throughout. Anirban Chakraborty, who will also be seen with Anirban Bhattacharya in Birsa Dasgupta’s thriller Mukhosh, will play the role of a police officer in REKKA as well.
The winding, serpentine plot is placed in a Muslim-dominant city called Sundarpur, which stands out for the absurd open secret that ‘Rabindranath never visited the place to feast.’ The reason is a secret, just like the true identity and intent of Rahul Bose’ Nabarun’s interest in the lesser-known city and the restaurant, with its owner. While the delicacies of the restaurant are finger-licking savoury, on one hand, the identity of Mushkan Zaveri seems deadlier on the other. She is suspected to be a seductress and a vampire, and the person behind the disappearance of five people, their bloodied bodies recovered by the police.
REKKA marks Haque’s and Rahul Bose’s first collaboration with Srijit Mukherji. The wait for the mystery to unfold is only for another day as you gear up to jump on the promise of a riveting tale on Hoichoi this Friday.
