The 1.49-minute-long trailer of Raayan suggests that the gangster drama, which is written and directed by Dhanush , introduces us to the world of crime. The character played by Selvaraghavan, who plays a mentor to the titular character Raayan, is seen explaining to the protagonist why Hyena is considered the most dangerous animal in the forest. This is a metaphor for the gang war between a group of less-powerful people including the protagonist, and the powerful league (the Lions and Tigers in the forest), played by SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, and others.

Selvaraghavan’s character describes Raayan, played by Dhanush, as someone who comes like a ghost and finishes off everything. The celebrated actor looks different in his new look in the promising trailer, which confirms this gangster drama is deeply rooted in a Tamil Nadu small town’s rich culture. Prakash Raj, SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Selvaraghavan, Dushara Vijayan, and others make notable appearances in the trailer. The final scene, in which Raayan is seen putting up an innocent face at the police station, looks interesting.

AR Rahman impresses with the exceptional background. The final visuals of three boys, with ‘Usure Nee Thaane’ playing in the backdrop, confirm that the movie has a strong emotional core. Om Prakash’s stunning visuals and crisp editing make the Raayan trailer highly promising and raise expectations over the Dhanush directorial. The much-awaited project is slated to hit the theatres worldwide, on July 26, 2024.
