Trisha, who has had a huge hit this year with Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1, is looking forward to bid adieu to 2022 with another release. Her long-delayed movie Raangi is finally hitting the screens on December 30. The film, directed by M Saravanan, has been bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
The makers had unveiled the movie's teaser three years ago. The other day, they came up with a trailer which pretty much sums up the plot of the project. It revolves around a young woman who sets out to save several kids from the clutches of a dreaded gang of terrorists.
AR Murugadoss has written the story for the film which has music composed by C Sathya. KA Shakthivel and M Subarak have handled cinematography and editing respectively for Raangi which has action scenes choreographed by Rajasekar. SS Murthy has helmed art direction while Kabilan has penned lyrics for songs.
The movie has been lying in the cans for a long time. Mollywood actress Anaswara Rajan, John Mahendran and Lizzie Antony among others play important characters in the project which has been predominantly shot abroad.
The team has now revealed that Sun NXT has bagged the digital rights of the film; its OTT premiere is expected to happen in the last week of January. Meanwhile, Sun TV has acquired its satellite rights as well.
Raangi has been one among the few projects of Trisha which has been awaiting release for a long time. Sathuranga Vettai 2, which has her sharing screen space with Arvind Swami, is another film which has been lying in the cans. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is her next big outing; the much-awaited flick is likely to hit the screens as a summer release in 2023.
