Trisha, who scored a huge success with Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1 last year, ended 2022 with Raangi, which was directed by M Saravanan. The movie was one of the last Tamil films which hit the screens in 2022. The action drama produced by Lyca Productions was lying in the cans for a few years.
Its story revolves around a journalist who sets out to save a girl from the clutches of dreaded terrorists. How she travels to another country, risking her life to indulge in the rescue act forms the rest of the story. Lizzie Antony, John Mahendran and Anaswara Rajan among others essay key roles in the project.
The movie has story penned by AR Murugadoss who mentored its director Saravanan. C Sathya has composed music for the film which has editing by M Subarak and cinematography by KA Shakthivel. SS Murthy and Rajasekar have handled art direction and action choreography respectively for the movie.
Raangi, which was released along with a few other Tamil films on December 30, opened to mixed reports. Trisha's presence was considered to be the prime positive aspect by moviegoers while its screenplay and logical loopholes evoked criticism.
The film is now gearing up for its OTT premiere. Raangi will drop on Sun NXT on January 29. An official announcement has been made by the digital platform along with an intriguing promo video.
Trisha is now awaiting the release of Ponniyin Selvan 2 which will hit the screens on April 28. Sathuranga Vettai 2, The Road, Brinda and Ram are her forthcoming projects; some of them are likely to be released in 2023.
