Shah Rukh Khan agreed to act in the upcoming biopic Rocketry: The Nambi Effect for free, but actor-filmmaker R Madhavan says he can't refer to the superstar as a "brother" because he accepted the offer.

Shah Rukh had no motive to work on the movie for free, according to Madhavan in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, but he did so out of pure altruism. The actor-filmmaker said that he doesn't consider SRK to be his brother, stating in Hindi, adding that it would be arrogant of him to say otherwise. Madhavan further said that Khan is a tremendous star in every way and he didn't need to be in his movie. They don't exactly hang out or go to parties together, and he's a fan because SRK is a superstar.

Madhavan continued by saying that Shah Rukh is also an outsider, but given his elegance and the passion with which he has treated him over the course of our friendship since they were filming for Zero, and even before that, when the superstar invited Madhavan over knowing how much Sarita loves him, Khan has always shown them affection, and he hopes to emulate him in that regard.

Madhavan made similar remarks about his 3 Idiots co-star Aamir Khan, asking how he could be his brother when he is a superstar.

For more than five years, Madhavan has been hard at work on his passion project, Rocketry. After the original director, Anant Mahadevan withdrew, he took over as director. The actor claimed in the interview that during this time, his income was stopped, and any projects he engaged in required him to provide money to Rocketry. He admitted that although he doesn't own a home, he has told his wife that if Rocketry is released, they will buy a house together.

The movie, which was simultaneously filmed in Hindi, Tamil, and English, will be hitting the big screens on Friday.
