Dev Patel made his acting debut in the 2007 British comedy TV show, Skins, where he essayed the role of a teenager with a quirky sense of humour. He bagged his major breakthrough in Danny Boyle's Academy Award-winning sleeper hit Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
