Qala: Netflix film’s new stills show intense avatars of Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee

On the occasion of International Women’s Day today, Netflix has decided to treat viewers to new stills of a host of characters from its upcoming projects. Among the titles included Qala, and the new stills featured lead stars Triptii Dimri and Swastika Mukherjee.

The stills were released on Netflix India’s official Instagram handle. The first one features Dimri draped in grey clothes, with an intense and puzzling look on her face. In the second still, Mukherjee can be seen standing till against a snow-clad background, with mountains and trees seen in the distance. Part of the post’s caption reads, ‘Lines blur and relationships find new depths in #Qala. @tripti_dimri and @swastikamukherjee13 star in this in this hauntingly beautiful tale about a daughter who yearns for her mother's love.#HerKahaaniHaiZaruri’.

The upcoming film is directed by Anvita Dutt, popular for helming the 2020 Netflix horror film, Bulbbul. Qala reunites her with Dimri, who had starred in Bulbbul. In a statement, Dutt had referred to Qala as a ‘beautiful and heartbreaking’ tale about a woman who craved to be loved by her mother. She had also said that mother-daughter relationships are ‘sacred and complicated’.

Dimri had opened up about the film while in a conversation with ToI recently, and said that Qala, which she called very different from Bulbbul, is a film that was ‘close to her heart’.

The upcoming film will also feature Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan in a crucial role. The movie is bankrolled by Anushka Sharma’s production banner, Clean Slate Filmz.

In addition to Qala, Netflix unveiled stills from its upcoming titles such as Masaba Masaba Season 2,Thar and Sakshi Tanwar’s Mai as well.
