It’s celebration time for Allu Arjun, who is currently tied up with the shoot of his action entertainer Pushpa 2 The Rule. The star has taken a brief break from his acting schedule to receive his National Award in Delhi, which he’d won for his monumental performance in Pushpa: The Rise. The film, directed by Sukumar, which released in December 2021, was both a critical and a commercial success.

Ahead of the national award presentation ceremony, to be held in Delhi later today, Allu Arjun shared his excitement over a brief chat. “I am extremely happy that I am receiving this award. Receiving it for a commercial film is a double achievement for me personally,” he told, by ending with his iconic hand gesture from Pushpa and uttering the popular dialogue ‘Thaggedhe Le’.

Pushpa, the first part of the action thriller franchise, won another National Award too, where Devi Sri Prasad was adjudged the ‘Best Music Director’ for the much-celebrated album. The film, which released in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil languages and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, was produced by Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni under Mythri Movie Makers.

Telugu cinema on the whole has won 10 National Awards this year, the highest ever tally in the history of the film industry (RRR, Konda Polam and Uppena being other winners in the list). It’s also the first time that a Telugu actor has won an award for it under the Best Actor category. Allu Arjun is accompanied by his wife Sneha Reddy for the award-presentation ceremony.

The other actors in Pushpa include Fahadh Faasil, Daali Dhananjaya, Rashmika Mandanna, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Jagadeesh Prathap Bhandari and Ajay Ghosh. The sequel to the film will hit screens worldwide on August 15, 2024. After Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun will join hands for a film with Trivikram Srinivas for the fourth time after Julayi, S/O Satyamurthy and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
