Pushpa 2 has finally hit the screens and opened with a bang at the box office. According to trade experts, the film grossed close to ₹175 crore on its opening day, setting a record for a Telugu film.
However, the background score (BGM) of the film has become a hot topic of discussion. Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) is credited as the music director and composer of the BGM. Interestingly, Sam CS was also brought on board for the BGM composition. On the eve of the film's release, Sam tweeted that he had composed 90% of the film's BGM.
This sparked confusion and debate, with some speculating that DSP's involvement in the BGM was minimal due to criticism of his recent work on Kanguva. Despite this, the makers credited DSP for the BGM at all promotional events.
Adding to the chaos, Thaman, another prominent composer, was reportedly roped in to work on certain episodes of the BGM. At an event, Thaman confirmed his contribution, but his work was ultimately not included in the final cut of the film.
This exclusion has caused an uproar in film circles, leading to confusion over who composed the BGM for Pushpa 2. The situation has been especially disappointing for Thaman, who is regarded as one of the top composers in Telugu cinema and is celebrated for his powerful BGMs. Fans, who were excited about his involvement, have expressed their disappointment and are tagging Thaman on social media, questioning why his work was not used in the final version. One user posted "Hated the BGM of Pushpa 2, missed ur mass mark Thaman bro".
Director Sukumar helmed the film, which stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. While the Telugu box office collections are impressive, the high ticket prices have slightly affected occupancy. It remains to be seen how much Pushpa 2 will earn in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates.
