The film's performance in the rural belts of North India has surprised trade analysts. Meanwhile, as previously reported by OTTplay, Pushpa 2 needed to gross at least ₹320 crore to break even in the Telugu states. The film has now achieved ₹326 crore gross, officially crossing the break-even mark. From this point onward, any earnings will be pure profit for the makers.
Pushpa 2 enters safe zone in Telugu states
Mythri Movie Makers, the producers, opted to release the film independently in key regions like Nizam and Guntur, securing significant profits. Now, even the distributors who invested heavily are reaping financial rewards though the film has slowed down considerably at the box office. Interestingly, the Telugu version took longer to recover costs, compared to the Hindi version.
Director Sukumar is riding high with consecutive hits, solidifying his reputation. However, the Sandhya Theater stampede incident temporarily dampened Allu Arjun’s plans for post-release promotions. Despite this setback, Allu Arjun had meticulously prepared a promotional campaign.
In the coming days, fans are eager to see if Pushpa 2 can surpass RRR's record in the Telugu states. Rashmika Mandanna stars as the female lead, with DSP composing the music. Netflix has secured the digital rights, and the film is expected to stream by the end of January 2025.
In the U.S., Pushpa 2 has grossed just over $14 million but needs to reach $16 million to enter the profit zone.
