Pushpa 2: The Rule is all set to hit the screens on December 5, 2024, and the Telugu pre-release event was held in Hyderabad recently. Both Rashmika Mandanna and Allu Arjun spoke from their hearts and assured fans that Pushpa 2 would live up to all the hype. However, it was Sukumar who stole the spotlight with his memorable speech.
Sukumar opens up about making Pushpa in two parts
In his speech, Sukumar acknowledged that he had taken three valuable years of Allu Arjun's prime, emphasizing that no other hero would have committed such time to a project. For this reason alone, Sukumar expressed hope that Pushpa 2 becomes a solid hit. He also revealed that his decision to create Pushpa stemmed from his deep admiration for Allu Arjun.
Looking back, Sukumar gave Allu Arjun his first major hit with Arya, which catapulted him to stardom in Telugu cinema. This shared history explains the close bond between the director and the star.
Interestingly, Sukumar also revealed the origins of the decision to make Pushpa a two-part film. It was Cherry, the CEO of Mythri Movie Makers, who first suggested splitting the film. After noticing that the initial cut of Pushpa was nearly three and a half hours long and the story remained incomplete, Cherry advised Sukumar to create a second part.
Following Cherry’s suggestion, Sukumar and Allu Arjun reviewed the rushes and agreed that the story deserved two parts. Sukumar further teased fans by mentioning that Pushpa 3 is also in the pipeline, although it will take a significant gap before it materializes.
SS Rajamouli praises Sukumar's vision
Sukumar’s reputation as a visionary in Telugu cinema was underscored by none other than SS Rajamouli, who praised the director's craft. Rajamouli hinted that Allu Arjun's entry scene in Pushpa 2 will leave audiences stunned and spectacularly kick-start the proceedings.
Pushpa 2 is set to release on approximately 12,500 screens, with special shows scheduled as early as 9:30 PM on December 4, 2024. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film features Fahadh Faasil in a pivotal role, with music composed by DSP. Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj will also play significant roles in this highly anticipated sequel.
