Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 release in Karnataka has met with a minor obstacle. The film was set to have fan shows at midnight, followed by early morning shows around 3.30 am-4 am in Bengaluru, all of which now stand cancelled, following a complaint by the Producers Association of Karnataka. The complainants cited a government order prohibiting exhibition of films before 6 am.
Following this, the Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate issued directives to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and Bengaluru Rural District Police to prohibit the screening of Pushpa 2 before 6 am. Theatres have already begun refunding the ticket amounts to patrons.
The paid premieres of Pushpa 2 on December 4, however, will go on without a hitch. These shows begin around 9-9.30 pm. In fact, more paid premiere shows are being added following news of the cancellation of early morning ones.
The cancellation of Pushpa 2 shows in Karnataka has divided netizens across both states. While Telugu fans cite the unconditional support extended to Rocking Star Yash during the release of KGF: Chapter 2, including midnight and early morning fan shows, the same being denied to Pushpa 2 has not gone down well with them.
However, Kannadigas contend that the fact that Pushpa 2 has more than 1400 shows in Bengaluru, even though the team refrained from promoting the film in the state and cancelled a pre-planned event, should be enough for them.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 The Rule is the second instalment in the franchise. Allu Arjun is joined by a massive ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Sunil, Daali Dhananjaya, Jagapati Babu, Tarak Ponnappa, Anusuya Bharadwaj, Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj, Jagadeesh Pratap Bandari, among others.
