Pushpa 2 box office collection day 18: Allu Arjun's film sets sights on Baahubali 2 record after crossing Rs 1500 crore worldwide

Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 is a massive hit at the box office, and there’s no denying it. Despite facing criticism for its content and loud narration, the masses have embraced the film, which shows no signs of slowing down. In the Hindi market, it has become the biggest Hindi hit in Indian cinema, grossing over Rs 640 crore. Additionally, it became the first Indian film to reach the Rs 1500 crore mark in just 14 days.

Pushpa 2 grosses the Rs 1500 crore mark worldwide

With this achievement, Pushpa 2 has surpassed major blockbusters like Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 1054 crore), Jawan (Rs 1148 crore), KGF 2 (Rs 1250 crore), and S. S. Rajamouli's RRR (Rs 1387 crore). The film has also set records overseas, nearing $14 million in the US, the highest for a non-Rajamouli film.

The action drama continues to attract attention, partly due to off-screen controversies involving Allu Arjun. His legal troubles, particularly regarding the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, have kept the film in the spotlight. Following his arrest, fans and media criticized the government, accusing it of unfairly targeting the star. However, these controversies haven't affected the film's box office performance.

Will Pushpa 2 break Baahubali 2 records at the box office?

The next target for Pushpa 2 is Baahubali 2, which grossed just over Rs 1800 crore in its full run. With no major releases in the coming weeks, there’s a strong possibility Pushpa 2 could surpass that record. This success is driven largely by the Hindi market, where the film’s momentum remains strong.

In the US, Pushpa 2 needs an additional $2.5 million to break even, while in the Telugu states, it requires Rs 10 crore to reach profitability. These milestones are expected to be achieved soon, although the film's pace has slightly slowed as many have already seen it.

Mythri Movie Makers produced and distributed the film independently in several regions, reaping solid profits. However, the makers have reduced promotions as Allu Arjun remains affected by the personal attacks. He addressed the press to clarify his stance, which ironically boosted the film’s visibility.

Whether Pushpa 2 will surpass Baahubali 2 to become the biggest Indian hit remains to be seen. Directed by Sukumar, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad (DSP). Sreeleela also features in a special song. Stay tuned for more updates.
