Pushpa 2: Allu Arjun reveals a crazy story behind his stunning lady look in the Sukumar film

Pushpa 2 is one of the most anticipated films in Indian cinema and is set to release on 12,000 screens worldwide on December 5, 2024. Promotions are in full swing, and Allu Arjun was in Mumbai today for a Hindi press interaction. During the event, he shared several intriguing details about the film, including an interesting backstory behind the first-look poster, where he is portrayed in a lady's attire.

Recounting the events, Allu Arjun revealed that the initial first look for Pushpa 2 had already been shot and finalized, and the poster was ready for release. However, just before the planned release, director Sukumar approached him with a fresh idea. Sukumar felt that the original concept wasn't impactful enough and wanted to shock the audience with something unexpected. That’s when he suggested dressing up Allu Arjun as a woman.

“All of a sudden, Sukumar came to me and said, ‘Things aren’t working, and we need to surprise the audience with a bold and shocking poster.’ He then asked me to try a look like a lady. We experimented with two or three different appearances before finalizing the one you see. That poster, with me in a lady's getup, stunned everyone," Allu Arjun explained. He further mentioned how the first-look poster created an unprecedented buzz, which has only grown stronger since its release.

Allu Arjun credits Sukumar for making him a star hero

The Icon Star also credited Sukumar for shaping his career. Sukumar directed Allu Arjun’s debut film, Arya, and later helmed Pushpa: The Rise, which skyrocketed his stardom. The duo has collaborated on four films, all of which have been massive box-office successes.

The excitement surrounding Pushpa 2 has now gone global, and expectations are sky-high. The film is projected to earn at least ₹1,000 crore to break even. Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as the female lead, while Fahadh Faasil plays the primary antagonist.

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the production house has reportedly spent an enormous budget not only on the film but also on its promotions.
