Late Puneeth Rajkumar who was popular as a successful film star, entrepreneur, philanthropist and producer, dreamt of fulfilling one more wish - to don the director’s hat. Recalling the press release event of Salaga, he could be tracked revealing the same.
He wished to make a film with Shivarajkumar in the lead, according to his words. He had also revealed about discussing this with the actor. “I have had discussions with him and we have been contemplating this. The past year has had me think about it too. I feel I will embark on it soon”, he had said.
Puneeth had also talked about his fondness towards director Upendra and said he had loved all of the films including Tharle Nan Maga, Om and Swastik. He has also mentioned his ambition being rekindled after seeing Salaga and opened up about wanting to make a conceptual and enjoyable film to entertain not just Kannada audiences, but everyone.
Interestingly, Upendra had also shared in the same event about his readiness to assist Puneeth. Much to everyone’s delight, he had even cracked a pick-up line of “start camera, sound, action” on stage.
Actress Ramya had also recently shared to the press about Puneeth’s directorial dream with Shivarajkumar. She had recalled him wanting to start at least with a music video, if at all a film.

Meanwhile, Puneeth’s friends and family bid him a mournful adieu with the traditional haalu thuppa ritual, at his memorial. Keeping aside from fans and the public, it was ensured that the family got enough time to complete the rituals in private.
