Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan seems to be quite upbeat about attending the upcoming edition of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). The 68-year-old superstar on Friday expressed his excitement about representing the Indian film industry at the pop culture carnival along with the other cast members of Project K.
On Friday, the producers revealed that they will be kick-starting their promotions for the upcoming mega-production project K , which stars Telugu superstar Prabhas in the lead, at SDCC. Kamal, who is the latest addition to an already star-studded cast, confirmed that he will be flying to San Diego to be part of the celebration. "Congrats #ProjectK for being the first Indian film to attend @Comic_Con See you there !," Kamal wrote on his Twitter account.

At the comic book convention, the producers of Vyjayanthi Movies will unveil the film's full title, teaser trailer and release date. Apart from that they will also host a panel called "This is Project K: First Glimpse of India’s Mytho-Sci-fi Epic." Even though the movie is futuristic science fiction, which is written and directed by Nag Ashwin, it is said to have taken themes from Indian mythological stories.
Last month the filmmakers announced that Kamal has been roped in for a key role in the movie . Speculations are rife that he has been hired to play the main antagonist. "I am eagerly waiting for Project K . Whatever position the audience place me at, my primary quality is that I am a film buff. That quality will keep applauding any new attempt in my industry. Let mine be the first applause for Project K . With our director Nag Ashwin’s vision I am sure that applause will echo across our country and the world of cinema," Kamal said earlier.
Besides Kamal and Prabhas, the movie also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani.
Earlier, Project K was scheduled to arrive in cinemas in January next year , coinciding with the celebration of the Sankranti film festival. However, the release is unlikely to happen as announced given the production is still going on.
