The producers of Malayalam 2023 film, RDX: Robert Dony Xavier, which has earned over Rs 100 crore at the box office, is suffering a major setback after a Thrippunithura native files a complaint against them for financial fraud.

Financial fraud complaint by Anjana Abraham

Tripunithura resident Anjana Abraham has accused producers Sophia Paul and James Paul of the production house, Weekend Blockbusters, of not giving stakeholders their promised profit margins.

The complainant reportedly contributed Rs 6 crore to the film's production with the expectation of receiving 30% of the overall profit in addition to a complete return on her investment. She claims, though, that despite the movie's financial success, her initial investment was only returned to her after repeated requests. She also claims that she was not informed about the money made from the movie's satellite rights.

The renowned producers, though, are yet to issue a statement defending their involvement. Updates regarding this complaint's ongoing proceedings should be available soon.

RDX was a box office success thanks to its captivating plot and young cast members' outstanding performances. Though it was released alongside big-name films, RDX turned out to be a big hit during the Onam holiday season last year. The film, which was directed by Nahas Hidhayath, is available to stream on Netflix.

Similar complaint against Manjummel Boys’ producers

Siraj Valiyathara filed an application with the court, stating that he was promised a forty percent cut of the profits from the film's release by Parava Films, Manjummel Boys' producers, and partner Shawn Antony. The native of Aroor is said to have given the project Rs 7 crore. The other producers, he claimed, had betrayed their word and still not provided him any money.

Following the hearing, the court ruled that Shawn Antony, Babu Shahir, and Soubin Shahir's bank accounts should be frozen by the authorities. Recently, the ED carried out an investigation in which all of these producers were questioned.
