Producer MN Kumar accuses Kiccha Sudeep of desertion: 'Will sit on dharna outside his house'

Kannada film producer MN Kumar has accused Kiccha Sudeep of deserting him, despite having paid the superstar actor an advance amount many years ago. In a press conference held recently to specifically address this matter, along with a few other concerns, MN Kumar alleged that the Vikrant Rona actor hasn't kept the promise of collaborating together on a film, adding that he is left with no choice but to make the matter public.

"Our relationship was always great but I am not sure what we wrong recently. Over the last eight years, there have been issues regarding a film he was meant to do with me - he has repeatedly deferred on the plans of doing a film and excused himself each time saying that he would work with me after he is done with the current project. I was either directed to speak to his manager or when we met at his residence, there was no proper communication. He even said that he will work with me after Vikrant Rona and asked me to bring director Nanda Kishore on board, and that, too, was done. Nanda Kishore was paid an advance amount and a story was prepared but about a month later, he said he is working on a different story. So, there has been a big mess created now as a result and he hasn't been all that accessible either," said producer N Kumar in his opening statement.

Over the course of his speech, he would highlight how he got in touch with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to intervene and how that, too, did not yield a positive result. "It isn't about him paying me back but more about the commitment he owes," he would add, urging Sudeep to address the matter himself in the presence of the film chamber and the media, should he choose to do so. 

"He (Sudeep) has taken money from us, we have paid the entire amount. Back then, producers chose to pay the entire amount instead of an advance because of trust. We have also paid another person associated with him. As many as six letters have been written to him since December 2022 through the film chamber but only one of them has been responded to. He had told us that he will do my film after Pailwaan and Kotigobba 3 and I met Anup Bhandari after that but things did not fall into place. Not sure what happened but another producer was chosen for Vikrant Rona," added MN Kumar. 

"Will picket outside his house"

"Whatever that's been done to me, should not happen to someone else. I plead with you to fix this matter. A lot of pain and insult has been caused to me. If the issue isn't fixed in the next two days, I am willing to picket outside his house or at his shooting spot," he adds.

MN Kumar has previously worked with Sudeep as a producer on several films like Ranga (S.S.L.C), Kashi From Village, Maanikya and Mukunda Murari and has also distributed films such as Swathi Muthu, My Autograph and many others.
