Priyanka Chopra Jonas REVEALS that she was 'lightened' up in many movies

The last couple of days, the former beauty queen Priyanka Chopra Jonas has become one of the most Googled personalities. Well... there is a reason to it. The ‘Aitraaz’ actress has been breaking the internet ever since the time she made a few shocking revelations while she was in conversation with Dax Shepherd on his podcast ‘Armchair Expert’. These revelations included her reason to leave Bollywood, her being a part of a fairness cream campaign, her deciding to freeze her eggs and many more.

Speaking to Dax Shepherd, Priyanka Chopra Jonas said that she was being pushed into a corner in the industry and that she had people not casting her for reasons. She said, I had beef with people...I was tired of the politics. I was just like, 'I need a break. The music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I wanted to get but would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people. It would require like, grovelling and I had worked for a long time by then that I didn’t feel like I wanted to do it.”

She also addressed the ‘skin-tone’ issue. In the same podcast, Priyanka Chopra Jonas said that when she had joined films, she was considered dusky. She added, despite that (despite being dusky), she did a commercial for a fairness cream because that was a beauty brand. Elaborating the fairness cream advertisement commercial further, she said that she played a dark-skinned girl who was selling flowers and, eventually gets getting rejected by a guy (because of her dark skin). At the same time, when she uses the fairness cream, everything becomes a cakewalk for her, right from getting her dream job to getting the guy. Priyanka also said (read ‘revealed’) that, she was even lightened up for many of her roles through makeup and then blasting lighting. She pointed out that, when she had joined the movie business, if a person was fair, he / she was guaranteed some form of success.

On the professional front, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is now all set to capture everyone’s attention with her most awaited Amazon Prime spy thriller series ‘Citadel’ and also the Hollywood flick ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me’. Back home in Bollywood, one can see Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ presence (back) on the silver screen with actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
