Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her Citadel co-star Richard Madden are in India to promote their eagerly-awaited action-drama series that releases later this month.
The Russo Brothers’ series has several adrenaline-pumping action sequences, and the two actors have done many of the stunts themselves. At the press conference in Mumbai, the actors were asked how physically demanding it was to do the sequences.
Admitting that it was "incredibly physically demanding", Richard said, "It was incredibly physically demanding, because we were not just doing a scene once — we were doing it for three days straight. But I think that's what really drew me to this. Within these action sequences that are physically demanding, we tried to integrate as many of the character moments as we could. It's not simply a gun show or a fight sequence; this is how the two characters interact physically, how they dance together."
Richard added, "In each action sequence, we learn a little more about the two characters. Just like in the drama scenes, the stakes are high because of the adrenaline of what's going on. You're constantly in an exciting place, and that works both in the drama and action sequences."
Chipping in, Priyanka said, "Totally. It was physically and emotionally demanding. We shot it over a year and a half, in 2021, during COVID-19 times. We invested a lot of ourselves in the show, and that's why we're so excited to share it with the world. I think I left a part of my spirit in it. Like, really, a part of my soul is in Citadel."
Created by the Russo Brothers, Citadel revolves around two elite agents, Mason Kane (Richard) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka), of the global spy agency Citadel.
It is slated to premiere on April 28 on Amazon Prime Video. Two episodes will air on April 28, followed by one new episode every Friday.
