Priyanka Chopra made her Bollywood debut with Anil Sharma's film The Hero. The actress had decided to pack her bags and leave for Bareilly after her nose surgery went wrong. The mishap happened before she made her acting debut. The actress wanted to return the Rs 5 lakh signing amount of The Hero to Anil. However, the filmmaker refused to take it. In a recent interview, the director revealed he stopped her from going to Bareilly after her medical operation went awry.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Anil Sharma clarified that Priyanka Chopra's medical operation went wrong and it wasn't her fault. The filmmaker recalled Priyanka met him to return the signing amount she received for The Hero.
"At that time, I had already given her a token of Rs 5 lakh. She came with the cheque. She said I have been fired and now I am moving back to Bareilly. They said they were waiting to give my money back. I said you keep the money and I scolded her a bit. She then told me what actually happened with her nose," shared Sharma.
The filmmaker further recalled Priyanka telling him that her dad returned to Bareilly and rejoined his duty in the army. On the other hand, the actress' mother also decided to resume her practice. "They thought it would take some time for Priyanka to heal, so they would come back after a year or so. They were paying so much rent here, and they were regular people, not like Ambanis. I told them to stop," he added.
Later, Priyanka eventually made her debut with Anil's film. She went on to star in several Bollywood movies like Aitraaz, Don, Krrish, Don 2, Dil Dhadakne Do, Mary Kom, Gunday, Kaminey, Fashion and more. In the last few years, the actress has starred in some Hollywood projects including the Russo Brothers' web series Citadel. Her upcoming projects are Heads of State, The Bluff, and Citadel 2.
