This afternoon, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn confirmed that his upcoming theatrical Maidaan would be released on April 11, instead of April 10. The reason behind this last-minute change is not known, but reports believe that the makers of the film desired to release the film on Eid-Al-Fitr, which is why the release date changed. In the middle of these developments, actress Priyamani – who would also be seen in Maidaan, has amped the film’s promotions. Here is what she said.

Many Bollywood movie buffs might recall Priyamani for her role in Shah Rukh Khan's films, Jawan (2013) and Chennai Express (2013). But now, she is all set to play a supporting role in Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan. Talking about the rumours surrounding the film, Priyamani cleared that Maidaan is way different from Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak De! India.

“Honestly, I can tell you two differences right off the bat. First, that was hockey, this is football. Second, in ‘Chak De! India’, you had 11 women running around and here, you have like 11 men running, in fact, 22 if you also consider the other side. But again, this is not a story just about football,” she said to India Today.

According to her, in the movie 'Chak De! India,' an established team is already in place, and players are already scouted from various state teams to represent India. “In contrast, the coach seen in my film goes all across the country and brings a team together,” she said.

Maidaan got any cuts by CBFC?

No. This sports drama, directed by Amit Sharma, received no cuts from the Censor Board. Bollywood Hungama report said that the censor board cleared the film without any cuts but asked the makers to add a disclaimer to the movie. The movie’s duration is about three hours. The film is backed by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios.
