Actress Priyamani called her role in Jeethu Joseph's latest movie, Neru, "a feather in the cap of her career graph" in an interview with Rekha Menon. In this courtroom drama, which was released on December 21, she portrays a lawyer named Poornima.
"After seeing Drishyam, I have always wanted to collaborate with Jeethu sir. When he called me, I decided, in a split second, to act in Neru. I was in Hyderabad for a movie shoot at that time," she said.
She continued, "Jeethu Sir and Mohanlal are an interesting combination, and I did not want to miss a chance to work with them. I desperately called people to adjust my schedule and make it work for Neru.”
The actress went on to say that she is working with Mohanlal after 10 years. "Grandmaster, which came out in 2012, was our last movie together. In the movie, I portrayed a lawyer, and there were more combination scenes. However, in Neru, we are only seen together in the courtroom," she added.

Priyamani stated that she received help from actress Santhi Mayadevi, who is also a co-writer of Neru, to prepare for the role, giving the former advice on speaking style, courtroom manners, and how to present oneself before the judge.
She continued by saying that the dialogues used a lot of technical terms. "I really didn't want to stumble, especially in front of Mohanlal and other veteran artists like Jagadish and Sidhique. In addition, actual solicitors were seated inside our courtroom, observing our performance," she said.
The audience has been giving Neru great reviews, considering it to be Mohanlal's most impressive comeback. The film also stars Anaswara Rajan, Sidhique, Jagadish, Ganesh Kumar, and Shankar Induchoodan in lead roles.
