Priya Mani returns to play culinary expert Anupama in Bhamakalapam 2

In February 2022, Priya Mani headlined a direct-to-OTT crime thriller called Bhamakalapam, in which she was a YouTube sensation culinary expert called Anupama Mohan, with a nose for gossip. When she gets caught up in a murder mystery, she has to use her quick wit to save herself from the situation. This formed the basic premise of the film directed by Abhimanyu. The film came out on aha, and did not have favourable reviews, despite good performances by the entire cast.

Sequel in the works

We now hear that the team has reunited for a sequel, which is currently in production. When we checked in with Priya about what is keeping her busy currently, she confirmed the development, saying, “I am currently shooting for Bhamakalapam 2.”

Meanwhile, Priya’s next onscreen outing is the Shah Rukh Khan-led Atlee directorial, Jawan . Also ready for release is her film with Ajay Devgn called Maidaan, the biographical sports drama about the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, in which Priya plays his wife. Thereafter, she’s got Quotation Gang, which is now called QG, in which she plays a contract killer. The film also stars Sunny Leone and Jackie Shroff.

New signing

Earlier today, Priya announced that she is a part of Drishyam maker Jeethu Joseph’s next film , the title of which will be announced tomorrow, August 12. To be led by Mohanlal, this film, though, is not the much-awaited third instalment in the Drishyam franchise. According to reports, it is a courtroom drama that Jeethu has co-written with lawyer-turned-actor Santi Mayadevi. Shooting of the film is expected to begin shortly. “I can’t give out details yet; it’s too early to talk about this film. Also, once we start shooting, I will be in a better position to share details,” Priya had told us when we asked her about her role in the film.
