Mallika Sukumaran is part of two of the most-anticipated projects featuring her son Prithviraj Sukumaran. While in Bro Daddy, which marks her younger son’s second directorial effort, she will be seen as Mohanlal’s mother, the veteran actress will be playing Prithviraj’s mom in Gold.

The duo shared a recent photo together from the sets of Gold along with the film’s director Alphonse Puthren. Gold, which also has Nayanthara in the lead, is currently being shot in Ernakulam.

Earlier this month, Prithviraj had wrapped up the shoot of Bro Daddy, which marks the second time he is directing Mohanlal after Lucifer. The actor plays the son of Mohanlal’s character in the movie, which also has Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kaniha, Meena and Jagadish.

While Bro Daddy is a feel-good family entertainer, Gold is touted to be a black comedy-thriller in the lines of Alphonse Puthren’s earlier movie Neram, which starred Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim in the lead. Gold also has Vinay Forrt, Ajmal Amir, Baburaj and Jagadish in pivotal roles.

Prithviraj, meanwhile, is awaiting the release of another black comedy-thriller Bhramam, which is the Malayalam remake of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Andhadhun. The movie will drop on Amazon Prime Video on October 7 in India while it will have a theatrical release everywhere else in the world.

The movie, directed by Ravi K Chandran, also has Mamta Mohandas, Unni Mukundan, Ananya, Shankar and Jagadish as part of the cast. The film will mark Prithviraj’s third consecutive direct-to-OTT release after the investigative thriller Cold Case and the socio-political thriller Kuruthi, both of which are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
