Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran's latest movie Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life ) is struggling to draw audiences to theatres in the Telugu states. Last week, the original Malayalam film took a huge opening creating a new benchmark for Malayalam films, However, it has failed to replicate the same success elsewhere.
Prithviraj focused a lot of time and attention on promoting The Goat Life in the Telugu states. Considering the familiarity that Prithviraj has managed to gain among the Telugu-speaking movie-buffs worldwide since the release of Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, many hoped it would benefit The Goat Life.
The filmmakers also held a special screening for the Telugu filmmakers in Hyderabad ahead of the film's actual release. And the film received glowing reviews from the Telugu filmmakers, but it didn't really help the movie gain any traction in cinemas post its release in the Telugu states.
The Goat Life has been overshadowed by the latest comedy-drama Tillu Square. Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles, the film has taken a massive opening worldwide and is poised for a long and successful run at the box office.
According to reports, Tillu Square has raked in more than Rs 50 crore within the first three days of its release. It has actually outearned the lifetime collection of its predecessor DJ Tillu. Tillu Square has also received favourable reviews from the critics and a strong word of mouth from the audiences is adding to the film's bullish performance at the box office.
In the meantime, Aadujeevitham has become the top choice for moviegoers in Kerala. The film debuted at the box office by raking in more than Rs 16 crore, and its four-day collection is pegged at over Rs 65 crore. Aadujeevitham is fast marching towards Rs 100 crore mark globally.
