Prithviraj is gearing up for its release soon, and the makers finally launched the historical drama’s trailer today at an event in Mumbai. At the event, Akshay Kumar, who essays the role of the titular king, opened up about how proud he was of the film.
Akshay talked about how he has been in the industry for almost 30 years, and it was the first time that he was doing a historical film of such a huge scale. He talked about how proud he felt when Chandraprakash Dwivedi offered him the role of the historic king. Thanking the director and producer Aditya Chopra for the role, the actor said he felt amazing to be given the chance to essay the role of such a fierce warrior. The actor revealed that Chandraprakash had given him a copy of Prithviraj Raso. After reading the book, Akshay realised how valiant a warrior Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan actually was.
The actor further spoke about how important the film is and how proud he is to be a part of it. Akshay said that if his mother were there, she too would have been proud. The star seemed to get emotional when he said it, pausing in between and unable to go on. It also seemed like he was holding back tears.
The upcoming historical drama also stars Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt as Sanyogita, Chand Varai and Kaka Kanha, respectively. Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar also feature in the film. The film is produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
Prithviraj will hit the big screen on June 3, 2022.
