Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaaliyan to start rolling in May? Major updates out

Prithviraj Sukumaran is going through one of the most exciting phases in both his acting and filmmaking careers. The actor-director is currently busy with the post-production works of his much-awaited third directorial venture, L2 Empuraan. As per the reports, Prithviraj Sukumaran is planning to kickstart the filming of his long-delayed period drama, Kaaliyan, soon after the release of the upcoming Mohanlal starrer. The actor is reportedly planning to shoot for Kaaliyan and SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29, simultaneously.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaaliyan to start rolling soon?

According to the latest updates, Prithviraj Sukumaran and director S Mahesh are planning to kickstart the filming of their long-awaited project, Kaaliyan. If the reports are to be believed, the actor-filmmaker is reportedly set to begin the shooting in May 2025, after wrapping up his current commitments. Before joining the sets of Kaaliyan, Prithviraj is expected to finish the filming of Nobody, the upcoming thriller directed by Rorschach maker, Nissam Basheer.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s plans for SSMB29

As per the reports, Prithviraj Sukumaran is expected to join the sets of the upcoming SS Rajamouli directorial, which features Mahesh Babu in the lead role, in a few days. The grapevine suggests that the multi-faceted talent is playing the lead antagonist in the project, which has been tentatively titled, SSMB29. If the reports are to be believed, the actor is planning to simultaneously shoot for the SS Rajamouli directorial and Kaaliyan, across the year.

Kaaliyan: All you need to know

The highly anticipated project, directed by S Mahesh, was announced in 2018 with a special motion poster. Prithviraj Sukumaran is set to play the central character, Iravikutti Pillai, the commander-in-chief of Venad Kingdom of Kerala, in the film set in the 17th century. KGF fame musician Ravi Basrur is expected to compose the songs and the background score for the project. Popular actress Mrunal Thakur is expected to make her Malayalam cinema debut with the much-awaited film, which is slated to hit the big screens in 2026.
