Prithviraj Sukumaran revealed that his upcoming movie Jana Gana Mana will have two instalments, with the first one releasing in theatres on April 28. The actor also said that the scenes used in the teaser and the upcoming trailer of the Dijo Jose Antony directorial, which also has Suraj Venjaramoodu and Mamta Mohandas in the lead, are from its second part.
Prithviraj revealed this during a promotional event of the film held at a college in Kochi. “The teaser and the trailer of the film is special because the scenes used in these aren't from Jana Gana Mana but its sequel,” he said. The actor also revealed that Jana Gana Mana, which is the actor’s first theatrical release since the pandemic, will mostly have flashback scenes while the sequel will showcase the present timeline.
Further on the movie, the actor said, “The core of the film evolves from an incident that happens in a campus. While it's a commercial entertainer, we believe it is also a powerful, moving piece of cinema that the youth of the country will identify best with.”
The movie, scripted by Sharis Mohammed, also has Prithviraj and Suraj reuniting after their superhit film Driving Licence, which is now being remade in Bollywood as Selfiee with Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi.
Prithviraj, however, clarified that their casting in Jana Gana Mana had nothing to do with the success of Driving Licence. “Unlike Driving Licence, Jana Gana Mana isn't the story of the characters played by Suraj and me. This is the story of Mamta, Shari and Vincy Aloshius’ characters, and we are just two characters in their tale,” said Prithviraj. The trailer of the film, which is co-produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames, will be released on March 30.
