After a successful run in the box office, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s Jana Gana Mana started off its OTT stint with a bang, entering the Netflix Global Top 10 charts for Non-English titles within its first week.

The Dijo Jose Antony directorial, which is available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi as Jana 2022 on the OTT platform, amassed 2.2 million hours of views within three days of its OTT release. Apart from India, the movie was also trending in countries such as Bahrain, Bangladesh, Oman, Kuwait, Maldives, Singapore and Sri Lanka, with it topping the most viewed list in United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Jana Gana Mana, which revolves around the investigation of an alleged rape and murder case of a college lecturer and its fallout, has Prithviraj playing a former, tainted IPS officer-turned-lawyer and Suraj as the officer in charge of the probe, who metes out ‘instant justice’ to the alleged culprits. The film is currently at the eight position and is followed by Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey, which was viewed for 2.1 million hours.

The Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which has Ram Charan and NTR Jr, leads the pack with 13.9 million hours. The film is into its third week on the platform and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi is the other Indian film in the list, figuring at the sixth position with 2.8 million views.

Earlier this year, Tovino Thomas’ Minnal Murali, which was a direct-to-OTT release on Netflix, set the record for the most viewed Malayalam film on the platform. Meanwhile, the next Malayalam film to hit the platform will be Mammootty’s CBI 5: The Brain, which had released in theatres on May 1. The film is an investigative thriller, which is helmed by K Madhu.
