Malayalam actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is promoting his upcoming movie Aadujeevitham , has expressed his desire to work with some of the leading stars of Bollywood. He confessed that he was a die-hard fan of movie icon Amitabh Bachchan and revealed that he keeps revisiting the films that Amitabh Bachchan did in the 1980s for inspiration.
"I am a huge Amitabh Bachchan fan. My writer, Murali Gopy, and I, both are. One of our guilty pleasures is going to my office theatre and watching '80s films of Bachchan sir. I would absolutely love to direct Amitabh Bachchan, sir. (Though) I think I am not good enough to direct him. I would love to direct Shah Rukh Khan, sir, and Aamir Khan, sir — he is a big inspiration for me, both as an actor and filmmaker," Prithviraj told Zoom.
He also noted that he is in awe of the talents of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. "I am directing my third film in Malayalam. And I'd love to direct Mammootty, sir, soon," he added.
He also revealed that he shares a very good rapport with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, calling him a "very good friend." He recalled that he met Akshay for the first time on the sets of Naam Shabana, where he did a cameo role. And he's thankful for that film, which helped foster a very good relationship with Akshay. "Our relationship has evolved. I have produced a film with him. I have finished acting in a film (Bade Miyan Chote Miyan) with him," he noted.
Prithviraj plays the antagonist in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which is helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles and is due in cinemas on April 11 this year.
