Seems like Prithviraj Sukumaran’s association with Hombale Films is here to stay. The actor, who had earlier this year distributed the Malayalam version of KGF: Chapter 2, has once again teamed up with the Kannada production house to bring their latest hit Kantara, starring Rishab Shetty, to Kerala.
Prithviraj took to his Twitter account to make the announcement, a day after showering praise on the actor-director and the production firm for the “glorious cinematic achievement” that is Kantara.
The actor, who announced that the Malayalam version of the action-thriller will be titled Kantaara, wrote, “I absolutely had to do this after watching the Kannada version! Do not miss this gem in theatres when it releases across Kerala in Malayalam.” Prithviraj didn’t announce the release date of the Malayalam version, but it is expected to be in the next two weeks. Kantara's Hindi version is set to hit theatres on October 14.
Kantara, which also stars Kishore and Achyuth Kumar, has already garnered critical and commercial acclaim. The Kaduva actor on Saturday, lauded Rishab for his “absolute genius” in acting and directing the rooted thriller, which has the Kannada star essaying the role of a Kambala champion. “Brace for a beyond spectacular last 20 minutes,” Prithviraj wrote, while also applauding Hombale Films for backing the content.
The production house is also set to work with the actor in Prashanth Neel’s Salaar and Prithviraj’s own directorial venture Tyson. In their reply to Prithviraj’s tweet, Hombale Films confirmed that actor’s presence in the former, which has Prabhas and Shruti Haasan in the lead.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj Productions, which had also distributed Ranveer Singh’s ’83, will next bring Aishwarya Lekshmi’s mythological horror-thriller Kumari to theatres. The film, which is directed by Ranam filmmaker Nirmal Sahadev, is set to release on October 28. Shine Tom Chacko, Surabhi Lakshmi, Tanvi Ram, Swasika and Shivajith Nambiar are also part of the cast of the movie, which is also co-produced by Jakes Bejoy and Aishwarya.
