Prithviraj Sukumaran reveals his plans for Mohanlal starrer L2 Empuraan; says he is not allowed to do action scenes

Prithviraj Sukumaran is all set wrap up 2023 on a high note with the release of his upcoming action thriller, Salaar. After the release, the actor-fimmaker who is currently busy promoting the film, is set to be back to the sets of his next directorial venture, L2 Empuraan. The second schedule shooting of the Mohanlal starrer is expected to begin in London, in January 2024. Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Prithviraj Sukumaran opened up about his plans for L2 Empuraan.

The multi-faceted talent, who is all excited about his next outing as a filmmaker, stated that he is planning to shoot the Mohanlal starrer in a single stretch. However, the team will have to take schedule breaks in between, while the shuttle between the various foreign locations of L2 Empuraan. Prithviraj Sukumaran is hoping to wrap up the entire filming of the Lucifer sequel somewhere by mid-2024.

Prithviraj Sukumaran says he is not allowed to perform action now

As you may know, the popular star met with an accident in June 2023, while shooting for his upcoming project Vilayath Buddha. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who suffered a major leg injury, had to undergo immediate surgery. He later took a 3-month-long break from the films for his bed rest and recovery.

In his chat with Galatta Plus, Prithviraj revealed that he is not allowed to perform action scenes and heavy-duty stunts now, as the recovery is not completed yet. The actor-director, who is set to reprise his character Zayed Masood from Lucifer in L2 Empuraan, can only perform action scenes in June 2024, exactly a year after his surgery. So, the filmmaker is planning to shoot the action scenes in the film that involve his character, only in June, of next year.

Mohanlal is reprising his character Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Ab’Ram from Lucifer, in L2 Empuraan. Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Saniya Iyappan, Baiju Santhosh, and other popular cast members of the first installment are also set to reprise their respective roles. Murali Gopy has penned the story, screenplay, and dialogues for the Prithviraj directorial. Deepak Dev has composed the music. Sujith Vaassudev is the director of photography. The project is jointly bankrolled by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
