Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the busiest stars in the Malayalam film industry. The actor-filmmaker has a massive line-up of projects in his kitty, including his third directorial venture, L2: Empuraan. The multi-faceted talent, who is now busy promoting his next outing Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, recently opened up about the shelved project, Arival Chuttika Nakshathram. Prithviraj confirmed that the period movie, which was supposed to mark his second collaboration with Mammootty and director Amal Neerad, is not getting revived.
In a recent chat with a leading Malayalam online media outlet, Prithviraj Sukumaran extensively spoke about Arival Chuttika Nakshathram. The movie was supposed to feature Mammootty in the lead role and the Aadujeevitham actor as the lead antagonist. The period drama, which was officially announced in 2012, was also expected to mark both the megastar and actor-director's second collaboration with the cinematographer-filmmaker, Amal Neerad. However, Arival Chuttika Nakshathram was shelved during its pre-production stages itself due to budget and logistic issues.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who rubbished the rumours that Arival Chuttika Nakshathram getting revived, confirmed that it is impossible to make that film now. According to the actor-director, the Amal Neerad directorial had a very interesting concept and was set in the backdrop of a Kerala hill station in the pre-independence era. But now, it is impossible to revive the film, as a couple of films that were made later dealt with a similar premise. However, Prithviraj’s confirmation has left the cine-goers, who were waiting to witness the actor sharing the screen with Mammootty in an Amal Neerad film, disappointed.
Earlier, it was reported that Prithviraj Sukumaran might reunite with Mammootty for an upcoming film, which is helmed by a newcomer. Even though the Aadujeevitham actor put an end to the rumours about Arival Chuttika Nakshathran, he has not reacted to the reports on his upcoming project with the megastar yet. Meanwhile, the grapevine suggests that Prithviraj has walked out of the project owing to a busy schedule, and another popular actor has been approached to replace him. But we will have to wait until the official announcement of the film for more details.
