Prithviraj Sukumaran has joined hands with the makers of the KGF franchise, Hombale Films, again. While he had earlier distributed KGF: Chapter 2 in Kerala, this time the production company will be backing his fourth directorial – Tyson.
The actor took to social media to announce the project a few days ago. The film, which is set to go on floors in 2023 after he completes shooting for the sequel of Lucifer, Empuraan, is also scripted by Murali Gopy.
Talking about Tyson, Prithviraj told Bangalore Times that it would be an action-packed socio-political thriller. The actor said it was a project that he and Murali had discussed during the making of Lucifer in 2018-19 and even though they later got busy with Empuraan, the idea of Tyson remained with him. The actor said he initially wanted to produce it and act in the lead role, while letting someone else direct the movie as he was busy with other projects
Hombale Films had reached out to him following the release of Mohanlal’s Lucifer. Prithviraj said he wanted to collaborate with them as they were “trailblazers” when it came to making content that appealed to people across the country, as is evident from the success of the KGF franchise.
Meanwhile, other details about the movie have been kept under wraps. Prithviraj is expected to begin the pre-production work on Empuraan by the end of this year and begin shooting the big-budget movie in 2023. Last month, Murali Gopy and Prithviraj had confirmed that the former has completed the script of the movie, which will have Mohanlal reprising his role as Khureshi Ab’ram aka Stephen Nedumpally.
Prithviraj’s next theatrical release is Kaduva, which is helmed by Shaji Kailas. The ‘mass’ action entertainer, also starring Vivek Oberoi and Samyuktha Menon, is set to release in theatres worldwide on June 30.
