Prithviraj Sukumaran leads Malayalam cinema box office in 2024; touches Rs 250 crore mark

Prithviraj Sukumaran is going through an excellent phase in his acting and filmmaking career, with some promising projects in his kitty. The actor-director had an amazing run at the Malayalam cinema box office in 2024, with his back-to-back blockbusters Aadujeevitham and Guruvayoorambala Nadayil. The Blessy directorial, which emerged as the biggest solo blockbuster in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s career, also underlined his immense performance potential. Both films reportedly touched the Rs 250 crore mark at the box office.

Prithviraj Sukumaran leads Malayalam cinema box office in 2024

According to the recent updates from the trade experts, Prithviraj Sukumaran has emerged as the Malayalam actor to generate the biggest box office revenue in 2024. Prithviraj Sukumaran had two back-to-back blockbusters in 2024, with the highly acclaimed survival drama Aadujeevitham, and the comedy-drama film Guruvayoorambala Nadayil. For the uninitiated, the Blessy directorial made over Rs 160 crore from the worldwide box office, within its lifetime run at the theaters.

The Vipin Das directorial, on the other hand, collected around Rs 90 crore from the worldwide box office during its theatrical run. Together, both the films made a total box office collection of around Rs 250 crore. Thus, Prithviraj Sukumaran produced the two highest grossing films of his acting career in 2024. Aadujeevitham also emerged as the fastest Rs 50 crore of Malayalam cinema, and emerged as the third all-time highest grossing film in the industry.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming films

As reported earlier, Prithviraj Sukumaran is set to make a grand comeback to theatres in March 2025, with the Lucifer sequel L2 Empuraan. Along with directing the film, the multi-faceted talent is set to reprise his character Zayed Masood, in the upcoming Mohanlal starrer. Vilayath Buddha, another long-delayed project featuring the actor, is reportedly slated to hit the big screens in May 2025. However, the makers are yet to announce the film’s release date officially. Prithviraj is expected to join the sets of Salaar 2, the upcoming Prabhas starrer, very soon.
