Post the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2, all eyes are on Kannada filmmaker Prashanth Neel’s next film Salaar, which also has Baahubali actor Prabhas. A few months ago, Prabhas also confirmed that Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has also been approached to play a major role in the movie.
In a Twitter Spaces session with Netflix South ahead of the OTT release of Jana Gana Mana, Prithviraj shared an update on him being part of the big budget pan-Indian movie, which also has Shruti Haasan and Jagapathy Babu.
“I had spoken to Prashanth, Prabhas and (producers) Hombale Films. Salaar is a hugely exciting film. I know what the film is about, which is part of the reason I am excited about it,” he said, replying to a query from a fan about his casting in Salaar. There were rumours that Prashanth was creating a KGF universe and Salaar could be a part of that. Could this be the reason that has the Kaduva star excited?
While the actor had previously said in a press meet in Kochi that he might start shooting for the film in October this year, Prithviraj now revealed that they are yet to slot the dates. “I hope my dates work out and we can mutually reach a place where I can be part of the film. It’s a big commitment; it’s a big film. I hope I get to do it,” he said.
Prithviraj said that he will finalise the dates once he is back to India after completing shooting for Blessy’s Aadujeevitham. The team of the film had shot for a month in Algeria and are currently in Jordan. Prithviraj is expected to be back by mid June to shoot the remaining portions of the film, which went on floors in 2018.
Meanwhile, the actor was involved in the distribution of the Malayalam version of KGF: Chapter 2 in Kerala. His company Prithviraj Productions will also be distributing the Malayalam version of the Kannada film 777 Charlie, starring Rakshit Shetty. The film is set to hit theatres on June 10.
