Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘mass’ entertainer with filmmaker Shaji Kailas is in its final leg of shooting. The team, which had shot a few action scenes in Kottayam the past week, is expected to conclude the shoot of the ‘mass’ entertainer by the end of month.

The shoot of the movie has already spanned over 100 days, with a few breaks in between due to the surge in COVID-19 cases and consequent lockdown last year and the Omicron threat earlier this year. The big-budget film, scripted by Jinu V Abraham, has a lot of crowd sequences and the makers have taken extra precaution to shoot these scenes.

The action-entertainer, which is set in the 90s, has Prithviraj playing a Mundakkayam-based rubber planter named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan, who locks horns with the police. The movie, which also has Arjun Ashokan and Samyuktha Menon, has Vivek Oberoi playing its antagonist.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the film’s scriptwriter Jinu told us that the movie doesn’t have heroes and villains per se and Vivek’s character is more of an anti-hero. The Bollywood actor, who made his Malayalam debut with Prithviraj’s directorial Lucifer, will be playing a Malayali cop in Kaduva. Yesteryear actress Seema, Baiju Santosh, Innocent, Rahul Madhav, Alencier Ley and Janardhanan are also part of the cast.

Kaduva, which has Jakes Bejoy as its composer and Sujith Vaassudev as its cinematographer, is currently set for an Eid release in May this year. The film is expected to go head to head with Tovino Thomas’ Thallumala and Mammootty’s CBI 5 during the time, when theatres are expected to operate at 100% capacity.

Meanwhile, Shaji Kailas has also completed shooting for Mohanlal’s Alone, which is scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman. Mohanlal, in an earlier interview with us, had said that the thriller is a single-actor movie , where most of the other characters feature through phone calls. The makers are yet to take a call on whether to release it in theatres or directly on OTT like Drishyam 2, Bro Daddy and the upcoming Jeethu Joseph film, 12th Man.
