Jake Gyllenhaal is Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a colleague he was having an affair with in Apple TV+’s soon-to-release limited series, Presumed Innocent. Why? Well, he was in her apartment on the night of her murder, his internet history shows he was obsessed with her and his DNA is all over her place. But he says he didn’t do it and is being framed. Is that the truth though?
Well, that’s what we will find out when Presumed Innocent begins streaming on Apple TV+ on June 12. A new trailer that came out has Jake as Rusty repeatedly asserting, ‘I did not kill her’ and the question is, who will believe him? The 8-part limited series Presumed Innocent is based on Scott Turow’s courtroom drama novel, which has been adapted for the screen by David E Kelley. The show’s premiere has been advanced from the earlier June 14 start date, with weekly episodic drops every Wednesday.
Jake Gyllenhaal also serves as executive producer, along with Kelley, JJ Abrams, Rachel Rusch Rich, Matthew Tinker, Dustin Thomason and Sharr White. The show’s primary cast includes Ruth Negga, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Camp, Peter Lawrence Singer, Matthew Alan, Roberta Bassin and James Hiroyuki Liao, among others. Turow’s novel has been adapted earlier into a film starring Harrison Ford as Rusty Sabich.
Presumed Innocent is part of Apple TV+’s upcoming slate of shows that includes Lily Gladstone’s Fancy Dance, which begins on June 28, the animated adventure series WondLa also on June 28, Barbara Mori, Ximena Sarinana and Miguel Rodarte’s Women in Blue on July 31, Matt Damon and Casey Affleck’s The Instigators that’s coming on August 9 and Vince Vaughn’s Bad Monkey on August 14. Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum’s Fly Me To The Moon’s streaming date is undetermined, although it will be in in theatres on July 12.
