Premalu, the romantic comedy that features Naslen K Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, hit theatres in February 2024. Even though the Girisj AD directorial was released without massive pre-release hype, the movie succeeded in impressing audiences across the globe. When it entered its fourth week of release, the Premalu box office collection has now crossed the prestigious Rs. 75 crore mark worldwide.
As per the latest reports, Premalu crossed the Rs. 75 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Thus, Naslen and Mamitha Baiju’s film has now emerged as the highest grossing Malayalam film of 2024, so far. The Girish AD directorial, which is produced by popular actor Fahadh Faasil and actor-filmmaker Dileesh Pothan, achieved this rare feat within the first 22 days of its release.
According to the trade experts, Premalu has already crossed the Rs. 40 crore mark at the Kerala box office alone so far. The movie has made over Rs. 35 crore from the rest of India and overseas box office. If things proceed at the same rate, the romantic comedy will cross the Rs. 80 crore mark in Kerala this weekend.
In that case, Naslen and Mamitha Baiju’s film will soon dethrone many recent blockbusters including Kannur Squad, Neru, RDX, Bheeshma Parvam, and Kurup, by crossing their lifetime collections at the Kerala box office. If things proceed at the same rate, the much-loved film will definitely enter the Rs. 100 crore club of the Malayalam film industry within its lifetime run at the theatres.
